(Montreal) Politicians denounce violence and intimidation against Montreal’s Jewish community after the discovery of bullet-like impacts in a restaurant window.
Mayor Valérie Plante wrote on the social network X that the act appeared to have been committed with the aim of intimidating the city’s Jewish community.
Police announced Wednesday that they were investigating after three small holes were found in the window of a business in Montreal’s Mile End district.
Police said they could not confirm whether the holes were made by bullets or what the motive was.
Montreal Liberal MPs Rachel Bendayan and Anthony Housefather said the restaurant, Falafel Yoni, was on a so-called “boycott list” of Jewish businesses that was circulating online.
Rachel Bendayan said this was just the latest in a series of incidents that have left some in the Jewish community afraid to wear a yarmulke or let their children go to school .
