Ford took advantage of the legendary 24-hour race at Le Mans, held last weekend, to unveil a Performance Package intended to sharpen its Mustang GTD even further.
Incorporating canard designs, a larger front spoiler, under-chassis flaps as well as a drag reduction system on the rear wing, this Mustang will have even more aerodynamic downforce at its disposal. Magnesium rims are also integrated to reduce the “unsprung” mass. This will serve to reduce the time needed to complete the demanding German route of the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time under seven minutes as a target.
Remember that this GTD shares very few elements with the production Mustangs with its 5.2L V8 equipped with a positive displacement compressor producing more than 800 hp. It sends its torque to a double-clutch transmission (eight speeds) placed on the rear axle, to optimize weight distribution.
An exceptional vehicle with a starting price of US$300,000.
