(Joliette) A teenager who jumped into the L’Assomption River on Thursday in Joliette did not return to the surface and has not been seen since, indicated the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. near the CLSC de Joliette, located on boulevard de la Base-de-Roc, in the Lanaudière region.
In the afternoon, SQ police officers from the MRC of Joliette and the city’s firefighters began searching along the banks and the river, but without success, said SQ spokesperson Ève Brochu-Joubert.
Around 6:30 p.m., SQ divers were heading towards the scene of the incident.
