(Düsseldorf) Ukraine, outclassed by Romania for its first match of Euro-2024 (3-0), regained hope of reaching the round of 16 of the German tournament by winning 2 to 1 against the Slovakia, Friday in Dusseldorf.

However, Ukraine started the match badly by conceding a goal from Ivan Schranz, scorer of the winning goal against Belgium (1-0), in the 17th minute following a marking error.

But Serhiy Rebrov’s team, notably deprived of Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, left on the bench, took the lead at the end of the first period and logically equalized through Mykola Shaparenko (54th).

Roman Yaremchuk gave his team the lead in the 80th minute when he slipped the ball under Slovak goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka.

Ahead of the Belgium-Romania match scheduled for Saturday (9 p.m. German time), three teams have three points, Romania, Ukraine and Slovakia, while Belgium brings up the rear in this Group E (0 points) .
