A 60-year-old mountain hiker from the Allgäu region has had a fatal accident in the nearby Tyrolean Alps. He is believed to have fallen on a snowfield.
The man was on a mountain tour alone and was reported missing by his wife, according to police in Reutte and Innsbruck. During a search, his body was found on Friday 300 meters below the Köllenspitze ridge. According to current investigations, the man probably slipped on a snowfield and fell 100 meters over rocky terrain.
A 55-year-old mountaineer from North Rhine-Westphalia injured herself on Saturday on a tour over the Lafatscher Joch and the Speckkarspitze to the Bettelwurfhütte. She broke her arm when she fell in a gravel field. After an emergency call, she was flown to Hall Hospital, the Tyrol State Police Directorate announced.
