A 14-year-old girl was stabbed to death in Guben (Brandenburg). The suspect is in custody and is believed to be the girl’s stepfather.
After the death of a woman in Guben, the suspect has been taken into custody. The Cottbus District Court has accepted the prosecutor’s request for the 44-year-old German, police announced on Saturday. The court ordered him to be remanded in custody on suspicion of manslaughter. Investigations into the circumstances and background are ongoing. A police spokesman pointed out on Sunday that the investigation is ongoing and that the prosecutor’s office will provide further information.
The 44-year-old was arrested on Friday. The police had previously been called to an altercation. The officers found a seriously injured woman and a man. They used an electric shock gun (taser) because the man had threatened the officers. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, the victim was the attacker’s 14-year-old stepdaughter. He pulled out a knife in an apartment and attacked his partner. The 14-year-old wanted to protect her mother and intervened. Seriously injured, she then dragged herself through the stairwell to the laundry area and collapsed there. She could not be resuscitated and died of her injuries.
According to police, the relatives and emergency services are being looked after by emergency chaplains. The Brandenburg police warned against distributing videos from the area around the crime scene. “Several videos are circulating online about a homicide that took place yesterday in Guben,” they told Portal X on Saturday. “Please do not distribute them, as this is a criminal offense. We are already investigating several cases. You certainly do not want similar images of you to be distributed on the Internet.” The police pointed out that making and distributing the recordings is a criminal offense. They have already received reports. Such images and videos should not be distributed out of respect for the victim, they asked.
