Tourists on the Spanish island of Espalmador were presented with an unusual sight: a luxury yacht and its crew were stranded on a sand hill.

A luxury yacht stranded on a sand hill on the Spanish island of Espalmador is currently causing astonishment among tourists. As “VozdeIbiza” reports, the unusual accident occurred on June 22nd. Espalmador is a small island north of Formentera.

The yacht, which is said to be a Pershing 54 Sport worth up to 350,000 euros, ran almost vertically onto a sandbank. “People climbed on board and sat down on the bow, which was floating in the air,” the Daily Mail quoted eyewitnesses as saying. It is speculated that the ship must have been traveling at 35 knots to land in the sand dunes.

Although the ship was stuck almost vertically in the sand, no damage to the ship has been reported so far. None of the crew members were injured in the incident.

As “VozdeIbiza” further reports, the owner of the stranded ship has been given a deadline to decontaminate the ship and remove all materials that could endanger the island.
