Alexandra Stréliski, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Bruce Liu are among the winners of the Opus Klassik, Germany’s most prestigious classical music awards, which announced winners in 27 categories this week.
Pianist and composer Alexandra Stréliski was rewarded for her album Néo-Romance in the neo-classical category.
“I have always had a somewhat atypical approach in this environment and I never thought I would be recognized by the traditional classical music industry like this. It means a lot to me,” the musician said on her social media on Wednesday.
Conductor Yannick-Nézet Séguin, for his part, received an Opus Klassik for the soundtrack of the film Maestro by Bradley Cooper, a recording of the music of Leonard Bernstein that he made with the London Symphony Orchestra.
The young pianist Bruce Liu, who won the Frédéric-Chopin International Piano Competition in 2021, was named “Young talent of the year”.
