Two young men got into an argument with a group in the spa gardens in Bad Oeynhausen. One man was seriously injured and later died. The police have now arrested a suspect.

After the fatal attack in the spa gardens of Bad Oeynhausen, the police have arrested a suspect. The suspect is an 18-year-old from the city, investigators said. He was arrested at his home address on Wednesday and will be brought before a judge on Thursday.

“According to current information, he is the main perpetrator who is said to have inflicted the fatal injuries on the 20-year-old victim,” it said. The police did not initially provide any information on the suspect’s nationality. Several media outlets had previously reported this.

The attack took place on Sunday night. 20-year-old Philippos suffered severe injuries and died in hospital shortly afterwards. A homicide squad is investigating the case for manslaughter and grievous bodily harm.

The 20-year-old and a 19-year-old companion are said to have gotten into an argument with a group of men in the spa gardens in Bad Oeynhausen on the night of the crime. The men are said to have then beaten and kicked their victims. One of them then dragged the 20-year-old away from the group and continued to attack him severely. The 19-year-old was slightly injured.

The police had called on witnesses to come forward. Officers had explained that there had been a lot of activity near the spa park on the night of the crime – there had also been a large event. A suspected perpetrator was wearing a conspicuous bright orange jacket, according to investigators.
