Mallorca holidaymakers can breathe a sigh of relief: the airline Eurowings has averted strikes by its ground staff at Palma airport.
At Mallorca Airport, the union of the Eurowings subsidiary “Wings Handling Palma” (WHP) called on the ground staff to strike. An agreement had been reached between the union and the company, Eurowings announced in Cologne. This would improve the working conditions of the employees and also take into account the company’s competitiveness.
The agreement has a term of two years.
The agreement came at the last minute. Originally, the WHP ground staff were scheduled to strike on several days in July. Only flights operated by the airline Eurowings were affected.
The planned strike days:
are thus averted.
JoaquĆn Ortega, spokesman for the WHP union employees, confirmed in response to a request from FOCUS online that WHP ground staff were to stop work on several strike days. Holidaymakers would have had to expect delays and flight cancellations during this time.
This will not happen after all and travelers can look forward to a relaxing holiday on the Balearic island.
