Cam Newton recently shared his thoughts on his former coach, Bill Belichick, dating a much younger woman. The topic of Belichick’s love life has been circulating in the sports world, and Newton didn’t hold back when discussing it at the ESPYs last week.
During an interview on the red carpet leading up to the ESPN awards show, Newton approached former New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones and asked for his opinion on Belichick dating 23-year-old Jordon Hudson. Newton, who briefly played under Belichick, expressed his disapproval of the coach’s dating choice, stating, “No, I don’t approve. I’m not even gonna lie, but just to see him doing what he’s doing is like.”
Jones, on the other hand, took a more neutral stance, simply saying “good for him” and downplaying the entire situation surrounding the 72-year-old legendary NFL head coach and his new relationship with Hudson.
According to the New York Post, Belichick and Hudson have been dating for about a year and were recently spotted celebrating the Fourth of July holiday together in the New England area. Newton and Jones were teammates on the Patriots before Jones won the starting quarterback position over Newton, leading to Newton’s release from the team.
Jones went on to play in 11 games for the Patriots last season, recording 2,120 passing yards, 10 touchdown passes, and 12 interceptions. He will now be serving as Trevor Lawrence’s backup for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
It’s interesting to see the different perspectives on Belichick’s personal life from former colleagues like Newton and Jones. While Newton openly expressed his disapproval, Jones took a more nonchalant approach, showing that everyone has their own opinions and views on such matters. The dynamics of relationships, especially in the public eye, can spark various reactions and discussions, as seen in this case with Belichick and Hudson.
As athletes and coaches in the spotlight, it’s not uncommon for their personal lives to become topics of conversation and speculation among fans and media. However, it’s essential to remember that everyone is entitled to their own choices and relationships, regardless of age or circumstances. Ultimately, what matters most is how individuals involved in these relationships feel and how they navigate their personal lives amidst public scrutiny.
