Cavan Sullivan, a 14-year-old soccer player, made history by becoming the youngest player to debut in all major North American professional sports leagues. He achieved this milestone when he subbed in for the Philadelphia Union during a match against the New England Revolution. This remarkable accomplishment was not just for show, as Sullivan has long been recognized as a talented soccer prospect. In fact, he signed the largest homegrown contract in MLS history on May 9, which will eventually lead to a transfer to Manchester City in the English Premier League when he turns 18.
Sullivan’s debut at such a young age surpassed the previous record held by Freddy Adu, who debuted for D.C. United at the age of 14 years and 306 days. During the match against the Revolution, Sullivan’s older brother, Quinn, who also plays for the Union, scored a goal in the 84th minute. Although Cavan did not have many opportunities to score in the game, he did take a shot towards goal towards the end of the second half.
