FBI Director Reveals New Details in Trump Assassination Attempt
The FBI Director, Christopher A. Wray, recently shared new information regarding the attempted assassination of former President Donald J. Trump. According to Wray, the shooter used a drone to survey the site of the shooting for approximately 11 minutes just hours before the incident took place. The drone was flown around the area, approximately 200 yards away from the stage where Mr. Trump was scheduled to speak.
The shooting occurred on July 13 during a campaign rally in Butler, Pa. The attack resulted in Mr. Trump sustaining a bloody ear, the death of a rallygoer, and serious injuries to two others. The assailant, Thomas Crooks, 20, was located on a nearby roof by Secret Service snipers and was armed with an AR-15-style rifle, magazines for the rifle, and a bulletproof vest in his car. Eight bullet cartridges were recovered from the roof where the gunman opened fire.
Despite ongoing investigations, the FBI has not been able to determine a motive for the shooting. The bureau is currently examining the gunman’s electronic devices to gather more information about his intentions and movements leading up to the attack.
