A tragic incident unfolded in Florida as a sheriff’s deputy was killed and two others were wounded in an ambush-style shooting. The incident took place at a home on Brookside Drive in Eustis, where deputies responded to a disturbance call around 8 p.m.
Sheriff Peyton C. Grinnell revealed in a news conference that the deputies were ambushed upon entering the home, resulting in the death of Master Deputy Bradley Michael Link. Link, a 28-year-old Army Reserves veteran, bravely served his community and leaves behind his wife, Brittany.
Deputy First Class Stefano Gargano, 28, was shot multiple times in the armpit and stomach, while Master Deputy Sheriff Harold Howell, 41, was shot in the shoulder. Both deputies sustained their injuries while trying to rescue their fellow deputy, Link. Gargano is currently in critical condition following surgery, while Howell is stable.
The sheriff’s office is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the deaths of two individuals found inside the home. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also involved in the investigation.
