AEW Criticizes Venue Choice for Recent Collision Taping
All Elite Wrestling recently held their Collision event at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa on June 8. The matches featured on the show included FTR vs. Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta and Orange Cassidy vs. Kyle O’Reilly.
Following the event, AEW COO Kosha Irby took to Twitter to share his thoughts. While he typically issues positive tweets after AEW TV tapings, this time he expressed his displeasure with the Mid-America Center. Irby mentioned that Council Bluffs has great fans and is a charming city, but referred to the venue as a “subpar partner.”
Although the exact reason for Irby’s criticism was not confirmed, a fan pointed out that the venue lacked proper ventilation, was uncomfortably hot, and experienced delays in opening its doors. Additionally, there were concerns raised about the lack of security at the venue.
Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer commented on Irby’s tweet, suggesting that a COO would only speak negatively about a venue if something significant had occurred.
Kosha Irby has been serving as the AEW COO since the beginning of the year, with his appointment being confirmed in March. His addition to the company was met with excitement due to his promised “fresh approach.”
