(Montreal) A motorcyclist died during the night from Sunday to Monday following a collision that occurred the day before in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, in Montreal.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) confirmed the death Monday morning.

Around 5 p.m. Sunday, several citizens called the 911 emergency line to report a collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle at the corner of Papineau and Prieur streets.

SPVM officers quickly went to the scene. When they arrived, they found the driver of the motorcycle, a 56-year-old man, lying on the ground unconscious.

The police assisted him while waiting for paramedics to arrive, who then transported him to hospital.

He was in serious condition at the time and medical authorities feared for his life. He succumbed to his injuries in the following hours.

The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, suffered no injuries.

According to testimonies collected by the SPVM, the motorcyclist was traveling on rue Prieur in an eastbound direction. He was allegedly struck at the intersection by a vehicle traveling southbound on Papineau Street.
