This year’s best actress category was particularly brutal, with Lady Gaga leaving out “House of Gucci”, Jennifer Hudson for “Respect”, Caitriona Balfe and “Belfast”, Renate Reinsve and “The Worst Person In the World” being left out.
WHAT ARE THE PREDICTIONS ABOUT THE OSCAR NIGHT WINNERS?
Jane Campion believes “The Power of the Dog”, the frontrunner for best picture/best director, is “The Power of the Dog”, but it is possible that “CODA”, which won at the Producer’s Guild Awards, will win best picture. It will be the first time that a streaming service has won best image. Other possible winners include Will Smith as best actor (“King Richard”) and Jessica Chastain as best actress (“The Eyes of Tammy Faye”), Troy Kotsur as best supporting actor (“CODA”), Ariana DeBose, for best supporting actress (“West Side Story”)
WHAT ELSE DO WE GET FROM OSCARS?
The organizers have said they will keep the broadcast at three hours. Packer, whose films include crowd pleasers such as “Girls Trip”, wants to make the broadcast as entertaining and as honorable as possible while also paying tribute to the winners and nominees.
Packer stated that the show would flow like a movie in that it will have different themes, a different feel, and a different energy throughout the night. This was in an interview with IndieWire. It will not feel, look or sound like one show over three hours. It will take you on a cinematic journey.
Beyonce, Van Morrison, and Billie Eilish are all in negotiations to perform.
ISN’T IT CONTROVERSY-FREE THIS YEAR?
The Oscars are so well-known that everyone is always upset about it (especially changes). But this year, the most controversial is the decision to present awards before the live broadcast begins and then edit them into the show.
