Angel Reese, the former LSU superstar playing for the Chicago Sky, had an incredible streak of 15 consecutive double-doubles, which has now come to an end. In the recent game against the New York Liberty, Reese managed to grab 16 rebounds but struggled with her shooting, only making three out of 13 attempts and scoring a total of eight points. This game marked only the third time this season that Reese failed to score in double digits and the sixth time in 23 games that she didn’t achieve a double-double.

Despite her performance in this game, Reese is still leading the WNBA in rebounds, averaging 12 per game. South Carolina coach Dawn Staley even stated that if the season ended today, she would give the Rookie of the Year Award to Reese over Caitlin Clark without a doubt. Reese received the fifth-most votes for the All-Star Game, while Clark received the most votes and was the only player to collect over 700,000. Both Reese and Clark will be the only rookies playing in the upcoming All-Star Game.

Looking ahead, Reese will have the opportunity to start a new streak in the next game before the extended All-Star and Olympic break. Despite the end of her impressive double-double streak, Reese’s performance throughout the season has solidified her as a standout rookie in the WNBA. Stay tuned for more updates on Reese’s journey in the league.
