(Miami) The American tennis player Jenson Brooksby, at the gates of the top 30 of the ATP in 2022, indicated Thursday that he had received a provisional suspension due to repeated breaches of his anti-doping whereabouts obligations.
“This provisional suspension is not an acknowledgment that I did anything wrong,” he posted on Instagram. “On the contrary, I refute the charges and await independent arbitration.”
Regarding one of the tests the authorities allegedly accused him of missing, the 22-year-old, now 101st in the world rankings due to injuries which have slowed his progress, assures that he was well at the hotel where he had declared beforehand that he would be that day.
Athletes must indicate their schedule in advance to allow investigators to locate them in the event of an unexpected test and, from the 3rd failure, they incur sanctions.
“I’ve never missed a test and I’ve never taken a banned substance. I have been tested many times, including three times after my surgery in March 2023,” he said, explaining that he was “looking forward to providing evidence and explanations.”
