Maggie Murph is a young mother and comedienne. As such, she could not stand the way a woman treated her daughter and confronted her.
In a video, Maggie reports how she confronted another mother who criticized her daughter because of her appearance. The passive-aggressive comments made her “feel like I had to intervene.” On Instagram, Maggie shares the experience with her followers and reveals why she probably won’t do it again in the future.
The Comidienne observed a young woman of about 20 years and her mother in a branch of the fashion brand Abercrombie
Visibly shaken, Maggie says in the video, her daughter replied: “I’m still skinny, Mom.” The comedian was horrified by the comments and wanted to intervene. She explained her strong demeanor by saying: “I did it for my 12-year-old little sister who was watching.”
So Maggie approached the mother and told her what she thought about her comments. Despite the great support, the comedienne would not recommend others to do the same. She and the other mother left the verbal argument “a little disheveled.”
Maggie has a clear appeal: “Mothers of the world, be proud of your daughters when they train and build muscle.” In the comments on her video, many users thanked Maggie for her intervention. Many users also commented that they heard similar tones from their parents and reported how much they suffered as a result.
In a second video, Maggie explains why she reacted so strongly. She suffered from eating disorders as a teenager and therefore argues: “I don’t even want to imagine what it’s like to have these thoughts when my own mother speaks so critically about my body.”
In the video, she also regrets not having encouraged her daughter more. Maggie also admits that she started crying shortly after the incident. She was so shocked by her mother’s behavior. She had to think too much about what the comment would have done to her younger self. But sport and strength training are not only essential for mental health, but also for women.

The researchers compared health data from more than 400,000 people over a period of 22 years. The analysis shows that female participants who exercise regularly have a 36 percent reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. For men, the figure was 14 percent.
