Arizona Department of Gaming opens application process for event wagering licences

The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) will start accepting applications for event wagering licences in July. Established by the Arizona State Legislature in 1995, the ADG regulates various gaming activities in the state. This includes tribal gaming, racing, event wagering, and unarmed combat sports.

As part of this development, the ADG will reserve at least one event wagering licence for Arizona Tribes and Sports Franchises. The application window for these licences will be open from 8 July 2024 to 19 July 2024 at 5PM. All interested applicants must submit their completed applications within this timeframe to be considered.

Applications will be evaluated based on the criteria outlined in the state’s event wagering rules and statutes. Prospective applicants are advised to visit the ADG website to fully understand the application process and requirements.

Last year, Arizona also opened the licence application process around the same time. This led to bet365 receiving an event wagering operator licence on behalf of the Ak-Chin Indian Community.

In other news, Fanatics Sportsbook launched in Arizona earlier this year, becoming the 18th state where the sportsbook is available. Ari Borod, Fanatics Betting & Gaming Chief Business Officer, expressed excitement about partnering with the Tonto Apache Tribe and Mazatzal Hotel & Casino to introduce the Fanatics Sportsbook to Arizona. He highlighted the state’s wide range of sports options, making it an ideal destination for online sports betting enthusiasts.
