Arizona Lithium has recently received approval from the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for its Big Sandy Lithium Project in Arizona. This approval allows the company to move forward with a drilling and bulk sampling program at the project, which is set to begin in July 2024.
The drilling program, which will be managed by Navajo Transitional Energy Company (NTEC) under a mining services agreement, is designed to include 131 drill holes and a bulk sample. The goal of this program is to expand on the current lithium resource at the Big Sandy Project.
Despite only 4% of the project area being drilled to date, Arizona Lithium sees significant potential for resource expansion. The upcoming drilling program aims to validate the exploration target and further enhance the existing resource.
Paul Lloyd, the managing director of Arizona Lithium, expressed his excitement about the approval from the BLM. He highlighted the opportunity to develop the deposit further, which currently holds a JORC resource of 320,800 tonnes LCE5. Lloyd emphasized the importance of expanding the current resource and validating the exploration target through this drilling program.
The Big Sandy Lithium Project, located between Phoenix and Las Vegas, boasts a flat-lying, sedimentary-hosted lithium resource. With a project area of approximately 25kmĀ² and 300 BLM claims, the potential for lithium extraction and resource expansion is promising.
Arizona Lithium looks forward to collaborating with the BLM, NTEC, and all stakeholders to ensure that the drilling program is executed successfully with minimal environmental impact. This development marks a significant step forward for the company’s exploration efforts in Arizona.
