Auburn football is celebrating their 21st postseason appearance in school history. The Bulldogs, with a record of 8-1, recently closed out the season with an impressive five-game win streak, including four shutouts. Head coach Tony Janssen expressed his team’s goals for the season, which included winning the district and earning a playoff spot, as well as hosting a playoff game in the first round.
Throughout the season, Coach Janssen has witnessed his team’s improvement, particularly in playing complete games and minimizing mistakes. The Bulldogs have primarily focused on their ground game this season, accumulating 2,558 rushing yards led by seniors Brant Gulizia and Nixon Ligouri. Gulizia has been a standout on defense as well, leading the team in tackles and tackles for loss.
As the No. 7 seed in the C1 field, Auburn will face O’Neill (8-1) in the upcoming game. Coach Janssen acknowledged O’Neill’s athleticism and disciplined play, emphasizing the importance of matching their opponent’s strengths. He also highlighted the need for physicality and dominance on the line of scrimmage as key factors for success in the game.
