Baggage Handler Reveals Why Tying a Ribbon to Your Suitcase is a Bad Idea
A baggage handler has come forward to explain why passengers should avoid attaching ribbons to their suitcases when they travel. While many people use brightly coloured ribbons to easily identify their luggage at airports, experts warn against this practice. According to the airport worker, ribbons can interfere with the scanning process in the baggage hall, potentially leading to manual processing and causing the bag to miss the flight.
In addition to advising against ribbons, the baggage handler also cautioned travelers against packing marzipan in their bags. Due to its density, marzipan can be mistaken for explosives during security checks, resulting in both the bag and the passenger being removed from the flight.
Furthermore, recent changes in airport security rules have left many passengers confused about what items they can bring onboard. While major airports were required to implement new scanners by June 1 to allow passengers to carry two litres of liquids in their hand luggage and keep laptops in their bags, several airports have faced delays in meeting this deadline. As a result, travelers are urged to stay informed about the rules at their specific airport to avoid any last-minute surprises.
A survey conducted by AirAdvisor revealed that 83% of people are unaware of the updated liquid rules at airports this summer. With the new regulations set to impact travel experiences, passengers are encouraged to educate themselves on the changes to ensure a smooth journey.
