CNN has set the rules for the upcoming presidential debate between President Biden and former President Trump. The debate is set to take place in less than two weeks, and both campaigns have agreed to the rules. There is a possibility that independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may also join the debate if he meets the criteria.

In order to qualify for the debate, a candidate must have at least 15% support in four national polls and be on the ballot in enough states to reach 270 electoral college votes. Kennedy is currently on the ballot in six states, with a total of 89 potential electoral college votes.

The 90-minute debate is scheduled to be held on June 27 in Atlanta and will be hosted by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. This will be the first in-person debate between Biden and Trump since the 2020 election cycle.

Both candidates have accepted the invitation to debate and have agreed to the rules and format outlined by CNN. The network has specified that there will be two commercial breaks during the debate, and candidates are not allowed to consult with their campaign members during that time.

Furthermore, the positions of the candidates’ podiums will be determined by a coin flip, their microphones will be muted outside of their speaking time, and they will only be provided with a pen and a pad of paper. Candidates are not allowed to bring any props or prepared notes to the debate.

It will be interesting to see how the debate unfolds and if any new developments arise leading up to the event. Stay tuned for more updates on this historic debate between the current President and his predecessor.
