The National Union of Picks and Banderilleros Españoles (UNPBE) it will manifest itself before the Ministry of Labour the next days 21, 22 and 23 of July to protest against “the discrimination against the professionals in the bullfighting arena on the part of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE), which do not recognize as artists in public performances, despite the express recognition contained in the Royal Decree 1435/1985, of August 1”.
The UNPBE, majority union in this sector of the art of bullfighting, has been registered with the Government Delegation of Madrid a request to carry out a number of protest rallies with the Ministry of Labour.
The requested dates for such actions are the next few days 21, 22 and 23 July , at 12 hours, and are motivated, according to the press release sent today by the union, for “the discrimination against the professionals in the bullfighting arena on the part of the Public Service of State Employment (SEPE)”, under the Ministry of Labour.
The UNPBE accuses this service does not recognize the professional bullfighting as “artists in public spectacles” , despite of the established in the Royal Decree of 1 August 1985, and therefore, they are rejecting all their requests for special assistance grants, faced with the crisis of the Covid-19, established by the Government and approved by the Congress of the Deputy in may to professionals of different fields of Culture
The biting and banderilleros believe that this is “a political decision of the Minister of Labour , Yolanda Diaz , who wants to suffocate economically to the professional bullfighting (…) depriving them of access to that provision extraordinary efforts (…) whose purpose should be to provide financial assistance palliative to the artists who have seen suspended their activity as a result of the Covid and the state of alarm”.
From the UNPBE animate “to all the sector of bullfighting, professionals, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts, to participate in the concentrations and thus prove to the Government that you can’t discriminate against or a bullfighter, or to the Feast of bulls, and that we will not allow any tort more”.
