On October 13, 2022, a decree was issued by the Ministry of the Economy to regulate cold calling for commercial purposes. The latter has been applied since March 1, 2023. What does it consist on ? The goal was to be able to end phone calls at any time of the week or weekend. To do this, the first measure taken by the government was to limit these calls by only authorizing them on weekdays.
We can read on the government website that this telephone canvassing for commercial purposes “will only be authorized from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will, however, be prohibited on Saturday, Sundays and public holidays”. Gone are the days of calls to change telephone operator on Sundays at 6 p.m. What other measures are in place?
A new digital platform has been created to facilitate your procedures and to protect you from these abusive solicitations. However, five types of organizations do not fall within this framework. Discover in our slideshow below which ones it is. The “Bloctel” service is therefore a free service allowing you to no longer be on the lists of these prospectors. To do this, all you have to do is enter your number, that of your spouse or your children.
Professionals must therefore respect the list of numbers registered on Bloctel and not contact any of the people who are part of it. The process on the bloctel.gouv.fr site will only take you a few minutes. A form of numbers on which you no longer wish to be contacted must be completed. In addition, you can only register your personal numbers and not professional numbers. An email will then be sent to you to confirm your registration. Once that’s done, you’re good on the list. Your confirmation must be made within 30 days of the sending of the email by the Bloctel service. You can also register by mail if you do not wish to do so online.
“Each number is registered for a period of three years. Any new registration, since January 1, 2022, is automatically renewed at the end of the three-year period”, specifies the government press release. If you continue to receive phone calls, outside of authorized organizations, you can make a report on the dedicated site, SignalConso.
To find out which organizations you won’t be able to report against, see our slideshow below.
