Yusei Kikuchi allowed two hits and six strikeouts in six innings to help the Blue Jays even the series after an 11-0 loss on Monday. The Blue Jays snapped a 19-inning RBI streak against Tanner Scott (4-2) in the eighth inning.
“I felt like all my throws were going well today,” Kikuchi said through a translator. I don’t believe it would have gone well if I had thought about continuing further into the game. I was focusing on one pitch at a time and one hitter at a time. »

Yimi García (2-3) was the starting pitcher, appearing in the seventh inning. Jordan Romano ended the debate with a ninth inning without an RBI, using his 21st save.
“Our players were ready,” Schneider added. We must give them the credit for being ready and understanding the issues. It’s even more true for a guy like Clement, who doesn’t play a lot. »
Matt Chapman had two hits for the Blue Jays, while Marlins rookie Eury Pérez held his opponents to three hits. Pérez struck out nine batters in his eighth career start. The 20-year-old pitcher finished his game at 80 pitches.
