The Boston Bruins traded goaltender Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators on Monday in exchange for goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, forward Mark Kastelic and the 25th selection in the upcoming National Hockey League (NHL) draft.
The Senators will retain 25% of Korpisalo’s salary.
Winner of the Vezina Trophy, awarded to the best goaltender of the season, last year, Ullmark was overtaken by Jeremy Swayman in the Bruins organization chart. He maintained a 22-10-7 record and a .915 save percentage in 40 games this season.
In 247 career NHL games with the Buffalo Sabers and Bruins, Ullmark boasts a 138-73-23 record and a .918 save percentage.
Korpisalo will be on a fourth team, having worn the colors of the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Los Angeles Kings and the Senators. In 2023-24, he posted a 21-26-4 record and a .890 save percentage.
Kastelic has five goals and 10 points in 63 games this season. He scored 14 times, recording 25 points in 144 games with the Senators over the last three campaigns.
