In Bad Oeynhausen, a young man was attacked by a group and critically injured. His companion only suffered minor injuries. The police homicide squad is investigating.

A 20-year-old man was critically injured in an altercation in Bad Oeynhausen (in the Minden-Lübbecke district). According to the public prosecutor’s office and the Bielefeld police, the young man and his 19-year-old companion got into an argument with a group of around ten men in a park on Sunday night.

The unknown men hit and kicked them. One of them then dragged the 20-year-old away from the group and continued to attack him. When witnesses alerted the police, the men fled.

The 20-year-old’s life is in acute danger due to multiple, severe head injuries, the police wrote. The 19-year-old suffered minor injuries. A homicide squad has begun investigations.

According to a police statement, the group of attackers was described as follows: “Around ten people, male, southern European, around 19-20 years old, some wearing Adidas tracksuits.” The unknown man who critically injured the 20-year-old was described as “male, southern European, around 20 years old, around 176 cm tall, mustache and goatee, neon orange Adidas tracksuit jacket.”

Police are asking witnesses to come forward and are calling on suspects to turn themselves in voluntarily.
