Just days before this encounter, three beachgoers in Walton County were injured in back-to-back shark attacks. The victims, including a 45-year-old woman and two teenage girls, sustained significant injuries while swimming near sandbars in waist-deep water. The attacks prompted authorities to close several miles of Gulf of Mexico waters in the area as a precaution.
