According to the Ministry of the Interior, almost all crimes and misdemeanors will increase in 2022. To carry out this study, the State based itself on the facts of delinquency recorded by the police as well as on surveys measuring, between others, complaint filing rates. And the trend is up for most crimes and misdemeanors. Sexual violence increased by 11%, intentional assault and battery outside the family setting by 14% and scams by 8%.
For home burglaries and vehicle thefts, the indicators remain below their pre-health crisis level, although they will increase again in 2022, with 11 and 9% respectively. The trend has been generally downward for burglaries since 2013, despite a slight increase between 2015 and 2017.
This year, the increase in burglaries is particularly marked in the West, in Brittany and in the Pays-de-la-Loire region. In seven departments, the increase is more than 40% over one year: this is the case for Mayenne, Hautes-Alpes, Ille-et-Vilaine, Calvados, Creuse, Morbihan and Tarn.
According to the study by the Ministry of the Interior, our colleagues from Le Figaro have produced a classification of medium-sized towns, i.e. 400 municipalities with 20,000 to 100,000 inhabitants. This classification makes it possible to distinguish them from large cities and to offer a more precise overview of burglary in France. The ranking is based on the number of offenses reduced to the number of inhabitants, i.e. the number of offenses per 10,000 inhabitants. What are the most robbed medium cities?
