For over 593,000 euros you can become the owner of an island called Mullagrach in Scotland. However, anyone who wants to visit it will have to be prepared for a lot.

The dream of owning your own island can now come true in Scotland. Anyone who bids over 500,000 pounds (around 593,000 euros) could become the new owner of an island called Mullagrach.

It is part of the Summer Isles and is around 36 hectares in size, according to the sales agency Galbraith. There is a small hut on the island. It has a kitchen and a wood-burning stove, among other things. There is also a composting toilet outside.

However, viewings are not so easy. This is due to weather conditions and access. Either the sellers or a local fishing boat owner would accompany the viewings, says Galbraith.

It goes on to say: “Anyone visiting the island must wear outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes and be physically fit enough to travel by boat and climb the ladders to reach the island.”

The island has more to offer. Buyers could also purchase Mullagrach House on the island. An offer of over £895,000 is needed to own both the island and the property. According to Galbraith, the current owners bought Mullagrach House in 2008. They use it as a second home. They also rent it out, but mainly to regular guests.

Phiddy Robertson of Galbraith is quoted by Sky News as saying: “This is an exciting opportunity to acquire not only a beautiful coastal home, but also an island that offers the ultimate private retreat.”

The island is also home to several seabirds, writes Sky News. Among others, you can find fulmars, kittiwakes and geese there.
