(Ottawa) Canada has announced that it will host the G7 Summit next year, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.
The announcement comes as this year’s leaders’ meeting continues in Puglia, Italy.
Member countries – Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Japan – take turns organizing the event each year.
Next year’s meeting will be held in Kananaskis, Alberta, southwest of Calgary.
This is where the G8 summit was held in 2002, when it was a group of eight countries, of which Russia was a member.
This year’s summit takes place against the backdrop of the ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East.
