An armed fugitive wanted for three homicides in Oklahoma has been captured in a wooded area of Arkansas, authorities reported. Stacy Lee Drake, 50, was found around 10 a.m. on Thursday in Morrilton, a city located northwest of Little Rock, according to Arkansas State Police. Drake is facing charges including aggravated robbery, carjacking, and murder, and is wanted in connection with other felony warrants from various jurisdictions.
Drake, described as ‘armed and dangerous,’ was apprehended without incident and is currently being held at the Conway County Detention Center. He is also wanted for the killing of a 62-year-old man in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Authorities urged the public not to approach Drake if seen and to call 911 immediately. His last known address was in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation identified Drake as a person of interest in a double homicide in Gans. Deputies from the Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office discovered the bodies of an adult male and female in a business on Tuesday, both with injuries consistent with homicide. The vehicle believed to have been stolen by Drake was later found in Morrilton.
Arkansas State Police stated that Drake had purchased camping gear and was believed to still be in the Morrilton area. Law enforcement agencies including the Morrilton Police Department, Conway County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas National Guard, and the Arkansas Division of Community Correction assisted in the manhunt.
The capture of Stacy Lee Drake was a result of the collaborative efforts of multiple agencies working together to apprehend a dangerous fugitive. The swift action taken by law enforcement helped ensure the safety of the community and bring a wanted criminal to justice. This incident serves as a reminder of the dedication and bravery exhibited by those who work tirelessly to protect and serve the public.
