(Ottawa) The Home Depot chain is recalling some of its pre-lit artificial Christmas trees because they may pose a fire hazard.
Health Canada has warned consumers in a news release that they should stop using the Home Decorators Collection 2.3-metre Grand Duchess Balsam Fir Artificial Christmas Tree, pre-lit with 5,000 color-changing lights.
The federal agency specifies that the control panel or electrical plug of the Christmas tree could overheat, which represents a risk of burns or fire.
Home Depot says 883 trees were sold in Canada, but no incidents or injuries were reported as of Tuesday.
The affected trees were sold in October and November this year.
Consumers should return them to a Home Depot store to receive a full refund.
