Amid the heat wave in Mexico, a record temperature has been recorded in the capital. On Saturday, 34.7 degrees were measured in Mexico City, according to the Mexican Meteorological Service.
It is the highest value since records began. Scientists from the National Autonomous University of Mexico warned on Wednesday that the increasing heat in the metropolis could lead to further temperature records in the next two weeks.
According to the government, 48 people have already died across the country due to the current heat wave. Last year, Mexico recorded a record 419 heat-related deaths.
