Coast Guard Responds to Grounded Passenger Vessel in Sault Locks Tours Incident

SAULT STE MARIE, Mich. — The U.S. Coast Guard swiftly responded to a distress call regarding the passenger vessel Bide-A-Wee, which ran aground in Canadian waters on the north side of the St Mary’s river earlier today. The 65’ tour boat reported no injuries and confirmed the vessel’s stability. As a precautionary measure, all passengers were safely transferred off the vessel to the tour boat Hiawatha by the U.S. Coast Guard Station Sault Ste. Marie. With the assistance of a tug, the Bide-A-Wee was able to navigate back safely under its own power. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the grounding and assess any damages to the vessel.
