Two flight attendants repeatedly insulted a colleague because of her weight. The two women have now been suspended by the airline.

Two British Airways (BA) crew members have been suspended due to allegations of “fat shaming” and bullying, British newspaper “The Standard” reports.

The two are said to have exchanged derogatory comments about the 95 kilogram flight attendant, who was not part of the group, in a private messaging group on WhatsApp.

The offensive comments were reported to the airline’s management by an angry colleague after the airline employee found out about the WhatsApp messages. The stewardess in question apparently felt afraid to go to work after reading the mocking comments.

The conduct of five other cabin crew members who are said to have been members of the same WhatsApp group is also being investigated, The Sun reports.

However, the messages have not yet been independently verified. They are said to have been directed against the crew member in question in a series of “merciless” statements.

After the allegations became known, British Airways said it relieved the two accused employees of their duties and launched an investigation. If the allegations are true and they are found guilty of misconduct, they could be fired, reports The Sun.

In a statement, the airline underlined its strict stance against harassment: “We have a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and always investigate all allegations brought to our attention.”

To entertain guests on a superyacht, the crew lit fireworks in the immediate vicinity of the island of Hydra, where the island’s only pine forest went up in flames. More than a dozen people have now been arrested.
