A three-year-old child drowned Wednesday evening in a residential swimming pool in Coteau-du-Lac, in Montérégie.
The tragedy occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the swimming pool of a residence located on rue des Merles. Emergency services were then called to intervene with the child, who was in cardio-respiratory arrest.
Resuscitation maneuvers were attempted on site. The toddler was then transported in critical condition to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Sûreté du Québec, which is now in charge of the investigation, is still trying to shed light on the exact circumstances of the event.
