A cyclist is believed to be seriously injured following a collision with a car that occurred Tuesday evening in Montreal.
The Montreal Police Department (SPVM) reports that calls were made to 911 around 9 p.m. to report the accident that occurred at the intersection of Rachel and Saint-Dominique streets, in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough.
When SPVM officers arrived on scene, the cyclist, a 36-year-old man, was on the ground and appeared to have serious injuries. He was transported to a hospital.
The driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old man, did not suffer any injuries.
“According to initial information, the car was traveling westbound on rue Rachel and when it reached the intersection of rue Saint-Dominique, the car made a turn to the right,” reports agent Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM .
“It was at this moment that the impact would have occurred with the cyclist who was traveling on Rachel Street, towards the east, in the cycle path,” she adds.
A security perimeter was erected to protect the scene for investigators from the collision investigation module.
Witnesses to the scene were met by the police, it has not yet been determined whether investigators will go to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
