New Ways to Ensure Child Safety at Daycare Centers
Major incidents of child abuse at preschools have led to the implementation of CCTVs at childcare centers starting from July 1, 2024. Despite this initiative, cases of abuse have not decreased, with a recent incident involving a preschool teacher allegedly kicking a five-year-old girl. In light of these developments, Melissa Simin Goh-Karssen, a Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at Singapore University of Social Sciences, shares her insights on whether CCTVs are effective in preventing child abuse at schools.
