In Kiev, the delivery of German military goods to Ukraine is taking too long. Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck supports a faster route.
Federal Minister of Economics Robert Habeck wants to promote branches of German and European arms companies in Ukraine. There is already a trend that needs to be strengthened, said the Green politician on Thursday in Berlin at a German-Ukrainian event on the defense industry. Politicians must now find out what is needed for this, for example in the form of guarantees or financial support, said Habeck.
Only on Tuesday, according to information from Kiev, the German arms company Rheinmetall and Ukraine opened their first joint tank repair plant in Ukraine. A little later, the Düsseldorf-based company announced that its Lynx infantry fighting vehicle would also be manufactured in the country attacked by Russia.
Habeck reported on a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Selenskyj. Selenskyj asked him why the delivery of military goods from Germany was going so slowly. There was in fact no excuse for this, said Habeck. Not enough had been done and more needed to be done.
