delta-lawmakers-vow-to-oppose-newsoms-20b-water-tunnel-plan

A Bunch of Cali peeps in the Delta area are like, “Nah, we ain’t down with Gov. Newsom’s $20 billion water tunnel plan.” They think it’s gonna mess up their hood and make everyone else pay out the wazoo for water. Newsom’s all like, “Nah, we need this tunnel to keep the water flowing as the world gets all crazy with climate change and stuff.” But the Dem lawmakers are like, “Nah, bro, you can’t just fast-track this project and shut down all the haters. That’s not cool.”

Assemblymember Lori D. Wilson (D-Suisun City) was all fired up, saying, “This Delta Conveyance Project is straight-up attacking our environment, economy, and trust in the system. We’re all against it, not just ’cause it’s gonna mess things up, but ’cause it’s a messed up process that’s shutting us out.” The Delta crew gathered at the Capitol to air their grievances, claiming the tunnel would wreck farmlands, communities, and nature, while making SoCal folks pay through the nose for water.

State Sen. Jerry McNerney (D-Stockton) was like, “Yo, this project is gonna hit us hard in the wallet. People are already struggling with bills, and now this? Not cool, man.” The lawmakers want to explore other options, like recycling water, storing more of it, and fixing up old levees to keep things safe. But Newsom is all in, saying the tunnel is key to Cali’s future. Supporters say we gotta do it to keep the water flowing, but the haters are like, “Nah, there’s gotta be a better way.”
