The 2015 film, directed by George Miller, is the fourth installment in the franchise that has been in production since 1979. It also paved the way to Mel Gibson’s fame. Fury Road stars Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, and Charlize Thon plays the role Imperator Furiosa.
The film received raving reviews from audiences and critics. Hardy and Theron were both praised for their performances. Miller’s film was not finished before it reached the screen. Kyle Buchanan, an actor, has shared his memories in his book.
Titled Blood, Sweat, and Chrome, Kyle Buchanan shared a small excerpt on Twitter. He also shared that George Miller was interested to play the roles of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in the film. He shared a passage in which a few of the people involved in pre-production discuss the early casting decision.
Brad Pitt was being considered to play the role of Max in Tom Hardy’s film. The script doesn’t mention Angelina Jolie but one can guess it was for Charlize Thron’s Imperator Furiosa. James Nicholas, Miller’s assistant, even shared a story from Mad Max Fury Road’s casting decisions. “I can still remember Brad Pitt’s face being placed on Mel’s Road Warrior body to see how it would look.”
