A 15-year-old girl shouts right-wing slogans in Warnemünde train station. During the ensuing police operation, clashes break out.

After the German team’s European Championship opener, there was a major police operation at Warnemünde train station because of right-wing slogans.

On Friday, police officers observed a 15-year-old girl shouting “Germany for the Germans, foreigners out,” the federal police announced on Saturday. When officers wanted to establish the girl’s identity, the 54-year-old father threatened physical resistance. A 26-year-old played down the comments, repeatedly gave the Hitler salute and shouted “Heil Hitler.” According to his own account, he wanted to highlight what incitement to hatred was, the police reported.

While the emergency services called for support, the suspects boarded a suburban train. The officers followed them and were attacked by several people. “During the physical altercation, the suspects repeatedly grabbed the firearm in the safety holster of an officer and tried to snatch it away with massive physical force. The attempts were unsuccessful,” the police reported.

According to the federal police, the incident occurred when leaving a public viewing event on the beach in Warnemünde. Ultimately, 17 officers were deployed. They established the identities of the group members. The 15-year-old was hyperventilating and had to be given medical attention by rescue workers. No one was injured. The police are now investigating on suspicion of incitement to hatred and physical assault on police officers.

Shortly before, police had ordered three men to leave the area because they had shouted the same slogan as the teenager. According to a witness, one of the suspects also threatened to hit a 35-year-old.
