(Midland) China’s Ruoning Yin and Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul got their round off to a good start in a four-player round on Thursday, allowing them to share first place with two other duos at the Dow Championship.
Americans Ally Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho, as well as Thais Chanettee Wannasaen and Jaravee Boonchant, also posted cards of 64 (-6).
Quebecer Maude-Aimée Leblanc and her German partner Sandra Gal were at the heart of a group sharing ninth position with a score of 67 (-3), in this only team tournament on the LPGA calendar.
The tandem formed by Canadian Brooke Henderson and American Lexi Thompson was sixth, at 66 (-4).
Canadian Vanessa Borovilos and American Sophie Stevens are 16th, at 68 (-2), despite a double bogey at the 10th pennant, while Canadian Savannah Grewal and American Malia Nam are 28th, at 69 (-1).
ALENA’s representatives Sharp and Maddie Szeryk are beyond the cut after 18 holes. Sharp and Australian Sarah Kemp are 59th, at 74 (4), while Szeryk and American Lauren Hartlage are dead last, at 78 (8).
Friday’s round will be played using the four-ball format, which should allow for lower scores.
