(Ottawa) Federal Health Minister Mark Holland hopes to launch the national pharmacare program by April 1, 2025.

This bill, written by the Liberals and New Democrats, was adopted by the House of Commons, but must still be studied by the Senate.

The Liberals have budgeted $1.5 billion over five years for this initiative.

Once the bill receives royal assent, Holland can begin negotiating agreements with the provinces and territories on how to manage the program.

But he says he is not waiting for this approval to begin his discussions with his provincial and territorial counterparts.
