(Daytona Beach) Former professional wrestler Tammy “Sunny” Sytch received a 17-year prison sentence for drunk driving causing death. A 75-year-old driver died after colliding with her vehicle while her blood alcohol level was four times the legal limit, Florida authorities reported.
Sytch, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011, pleaded not guilty in August to charges of drunk driving causing death and other charges. An opened bottle of vodka was found in his vehicle and traces of cannabis were found in his blood sample at the time of his arrest in Volusia County in March 2022, authorities said.
She could have received a prison term of up to 25 years at sentencing Monday. During the hearing, Sytch said she regretted her actions and would “never” forgive herself for killing Daytona Beach resident Julian LaFrancis Lasseter.
Sytch, who is 50 years old, had already been arrested several times for drunk driving in Pennsylvania, where her driver’s license had also been suspended. She did not have a Florida driver’s license.
“His history of drunk driving is horrific,” State’s Attorney R. J. Larizza said in a statement after the sentencing. It was only a matter of time before she killed an innocent person. »
