Between 2004 and 2019, around 30% of seniors left their jobs for reasons other than retirement, according to a study by France Strategy. The question of the employment of seniors has therefore emerged as one of the important issues in the debates around pension reform. All these discussions have thus resulted in the creation of a senior index, which must oblige companies to communicate their figures for hiring seniors, and the prospect of a permanent senior contract.
These early exits from employment therefore have three major causes, which are health reasons, unemployment, but also inactivity. Job seekers may thus have left their job for long illness or disability since the age of 51 or people in employment also have the possibility of being on long sick leave from the age of 56. In total, between 2004 and 2019, these retirements represented 71% of the end of careers of seniors. Discover, in our slideshow, which are the 20 professions most affected by early retirement.
